[ABOUT MAKAN SINGAPORE]
Makan Singapore is about food, about people, about history, abour bridging relations, about discoveries, about philosophy and more. Hence what ever we do, it is always a call for food for thought! Whatever we do or feel, food is never far away. When in trouble, we’ll either eat a lot or we don’t eat. When we feel good, we also eat. Apart from promoting delicious food in Singapore, we like to occasionally touch on the history and cultural aspect of food in Singapore.
MakanSingapore.com is a branch out from the Makan Singapore discussion group created by Victor. Started in 2000, Makan Singapore was created with one purpose in mind; food talk. The passion for food is so overwhelming that we decided to create a website to document and share everything we know about food with you. In 2002, we started engaging in lively brainstorming sessions that led to an endless flow of old and new ideas, and eventually the birth of this exciting little website. All in all, we are just a bunch of people passionate about food.
Opened in 2005, this website suffered a minor setback between 2006 and 2007 when we got a little bit too busy for it. In mid-2008, we got together, talked about giving MakanSingapore.com a new lease of life and here we are again, up and running!
[BANNER & TAGLINE]
The banner is designed by Lisa with image supplied by Victor. The idea for the tagline, Sedap-tively Singapore, came about during a funny and creative brainstorming. However, the credit for the tagline goes fully to PinangNyonya. Sedap is a Malay word, meaning ‘delicious’. Sedap-tively arrives cheekily from a play of the word, seductively. The banner uses the fonts, Fashion Victims by Nick’s Fonts and Staccato222 BT.
The use of MakanSingapore.com banner image on any external website for any purporses shall require the authorization from the MakanSingapore.com’s team. Please use the contact page to reach us for a written consent.
[MAKAN KAKIS]
Lisa Y Lim
Lisa’s passion for food started at the age of 12 when she had a philosophical monologue on various ways to eat a bowl of congee. She can be tempted with desserts.
Victor Yue
Coming from a hungry childhood, Victor has grown to be a “yeow-gwee”, a hungry ghost constantly looking for food. Since then, his taste palette expands from just food to tasty food.
PinangNyonya
PinangNyonya has munched her way from island to island, and when she can set aside some time from the munching, she continues to think about food … and hopefully write about them. She would have ballooned to a 200-kg monster if not for the fact that there’s a python in her tummy (or so, she thinks).
CCW
CCW oversees the marketing and advertising department.
